Association for Social Development Suhruth Sadan
Association for Social Development Suhruth Sadan is a registered charitable society, run by the sisters of the Destitute (SD)St.Mary’s Province Ernakulam, which was founded in 1927 at Chunangamveli, Aluva. This congregation is the first indigenous religious society for women in Kerala that ventured to take upon itself the care of the destitute of every caste, creed, community and religion. The second Vatican council had made the impact that each religious community has to regain their charisma with full spirit. It influenced the congregation to start the institution named Association for Social Development Suhruth Sadan. The heavenly patron of this institution is ST. Vincent De Paul.In the initial Period the institution had focused on the empowerment and self-reliance of women of Chunangamely and Choondi through prayer groups, weaving units, tailoring training, mother and child health programmes etc...
Later, understanding the need of the society, started to undertake Vocational Training, Health programmes, Rain Water Conservation, Paper Bag Making, Diary Project and House Construction Programs.
