Elders Self Help Groups
The project has 9 ESHG groups with 110 members in different areas of choondy and chunangamvely. It focuses on the socio-economic and personality aspects of the target group. Once ina week there are meetings in each group and the coordinator visits each group. The coordinator helps them to do exercises and also gives awareness and health tips. Each month the topics on awareness will be different. They discuss about currant affairs and issues of the society. Besides these they invest a small amount of money as savings. This meeting is a platform to them share their thoughts and happiness.

Aarambam- Independence Day Observation & Eshg Formation
Program conducted on the part of Independence day and formation of Elder’s Self-Help Group. ESHG Members, Koottu members and social work interns participated in the function. Sr. Divya Mundackal delivered a welcome speech. Sr Josna Ayanikkattu SD President, ASDSS delivered a. meaningful story to the audience with her Presidential address. Shri Benny Behannan who is the Honouarable MP of Chalakkudy constituency inaugurated the function. Master Anuroop Jose Anurag, member of Koott delivered an independence day message. Mrs Sati Lalu, President of Keezhmad panchayat. Smt. Elsi Chairperson of the Standing Committee and Rev. Sr Sincy SD Mother House Superior delivered felicitation. After the inaugural function, newly elders formed self-help groups. Around 100 people participated in the program. The programme was coordinated by Sr. Divya Mundackal SD Secretary, ASDSS, Sr. Ancy Maniamkott SD, Programme Officer and social work staff.
Rasagulla - Grant Quiz, Music & Fun
After a grand success and positive result of Omelet 2021 ASDSS took its new initiative of conducting the programme “RASAGULLA 22” which is not only a recreational program but also included a quiz. The program started on 13th September 2022 in Santhi Sadan, Chokad and closure was in Pariyaram on 26th September 2022.
The program began by flag hosting followed by the quiz rounds which included general knowledge questions, Luke chapter verses, questions related to Institution, questions prepared based on the information from Newspaper, and Music. Among all institutions the finalist was selected for the grand finale to be held on October 3rd 2022 at MG Aluva Town Hall. Everyone participated enthusiastically in the games and recreational activities and gained prizes. The program was concluded by music and dance with all inmates.
Aadharam, 2k22 --Honoring The Spirit of Aging and Death Anniversary of Fr. Varghese Payyappilly
Aadharam is the program which is arranged as the part of Elder’s day and 93rd death Anniversary of founder Venerable Fr. Varghese Payyapilly. The Program was held on 03/10/2022 at Aluva Municipal town hall. The programme started by Shinkari Melam by Samanwaya Band Thammanam, ASDSS President Sr. Adv. Josna SD delivered Welcome address Sr.Pauline Theresa SD,Social Apostolate General Counselor delivered keynote address. Shri Benny Behnann, Chalakudy Constituency MP Inaugurated the function with all the other dignitaries by lighting the candle. MP Jeby Mather, MLA Shri.Anwar Sadath, SouthIndian film star Amala Paul, Aluva Municipal Chairman Shri.M.O John, Fr. Paul V Madan, Abdul Khader, delivered felicitations for the program. Also Ammachi, the oldest from all institutions, was the chief guest on the stage. Amma also inaugurated the program along with eminent personalities.
The main reason is that they are the main attraction of the program. Every organization works for them.A quiz competition was arranged for elders from 14 institutions which under SD were involved in this program. Quiz program arranged for three levels. First category was the old-aged. Second category for psychiatric setting and third level is for ESHG’s, Marthas and Konthuruthy. The 1st and 2nd winners of the quiz competition from all the sections were given prizes from the dignitaries. Cultural programs from the institution, Koottu environment club and theme dance of St. Augustine high school were also held. Then the first sale of the paper bag unit, a new initiative of Suhruth Sadan for women, was inaugurated by MLA Anwar Sadath by presenting paper bags to Marketing Manager Priji Princen. Then MP Jeby Mather launched the Website Of Suhruth Loom arts. After the function, MSW department of BMC Thrikkakara played street play related to old age and its value. Also Thammanam “Samanwaya ” Team Shinkarimelam entertained the audience. ASDSS Secretary Sr.Divya Mundackal, delivered vote of thanks.After lunch program ended. The whole programme was well coordinated by the ASDSS team under the leadership of Sr. Divya Mundackal SD.
Christmas Celebration of Elders Self Help Groups
Christmas isn’t just a day.its a frame of mind. Association for social development Suhruth Sadan celebrated Christmas by collaborating with eight elderly self-help groups. ASDSS arranged varieties of games, carol song competition, Christmas crib making competition for ESHG”s. ASDSS secretary Sr. Divya mundakal SD deliverechristmas massage and Animator Sr. Nairmalya delivered felicitation to the program. Around 50 members were present for the program. The program ended with Christmas cake cutting.
Training on Basics of Smartphone Use
On 12 January 2023 Association for Social development Suhruth Sadan in Association with Help Age India organized a training session on Basics of Smartphones for elderly. The session had around 30 participants. The session was handled by Ms. Athira from Help Age India. This session helped the elderly to clear their doubts regarding the use of smartphones and to learn new things. The session n lasted around 2 hours.
A Trip To Alappuzha
On 15 February 2023 Association for Social Development Suhruth Sadan organized a one day trip to Alappuzha for ESHG members. The trip started at 7.00 am in the morning with a prayer. Around 75 members were present for the trip in two buses. Around 9 we reached Alappuzha Boat Jetty. The boating started at 9.30 and lasted till 11.30. During the two hours of boating the participants were served with breakfast. The Community social worker Ms. Bansuri TK and Project Coordinator Ramya Das coordinated some fun games. The ESHG members happily danced in the house boat. Later we went to St. Mary’s Forane Church of Thankey and offered our prayers and had a kerala meal for lunch. Next we went to St. Andrew’s Basilica, Arthunkal and after offering prayers we had our evening tea & snacks. Our last destination was Arthunkal beach. We spent about 2 hours on the beach enjoying the scenery and sunset. We had ice cream and started our return journey. The participants were dancing to the music throughout the journey. We reached Choondy at 10.00 pm and dispersed the gathering after prayer. ESHG members thoroughly enjoyed the trip and said that it was an unforgettable memory for all of them.

The 96th anniversary celebration of the Sisters of Agathi and Home for the Aged and Infirm was organized at St. Joseph’s Mount Chunangamveli. The District Judge released the annual news paper of St. Mary’s Social Post. Then, artistic programs of the inmates of 14 institutions under St. Mary’s Province were also held.
