On June 5th, 2023, the Association for Social Development Suhruth Sadan (ASDSS) joined forces with staff members from Suhruth Loom Arts (SLA) to celebrate World Environment Day. The observance began with a gathering in front of the SLA building. Staff members from both ASDSS and SLA, along with interns and sisters, assembled for a tree-planting ceremony. A mangosteen sapling was chosen, symbolizing a commitment to a sustainable future. Following the planting, SLA staff member Sheeba and ASDSS staff member Ms. Bansuri T.K. delivered thought-provoking messages about the importance of environmental protection. Their words highlighted the significance of individual responsibility in safeguarding our planet. To further solidify the message of environmental awareness, social work staff from ASDSS presented SLA staff with a message poster. This poster served as a platform for the SLA staff to express their own environmental commitments and encourage action within their workplace.

Blood Donation Camp

The event, held on June 26th, aimed to collect much-needed blood donations and raise awareness about the importance of blood donation. The camp was graced by the presence of Principal Fr. Sebastian, who officially inaugurated the program.  In his opening remarks, Fr. Sebastian emphasized the significant benefits of blood donation, not just for the recipients but also for the donors themselves. He highlighted potential health advantages such as a reduced risk of heart and liver disease, the stimulation of new blood cell production, lower cholesterol levels, improved mental well-being, and even body weight maintenance. Free Eye Camp

The Association for Social Development Suhruth Sadan, along with Udhaya Bhavan SD Convent and the Eye Foundation Super Specialty Hospital, joined forces to organize a free eye check-up camp for the residents of Udhaya Colony. Held on august 27, the camp aimed to provide vital eye care services to the community, ensuring access for all. The camp kicked off at 9:00 AM and saw a significant turnout, with around 50 people participating. Qualified medical professionals diligently conducted eye examinations throughout the day, identifying any potential issues. A crucial aspect of the camp was the opportunity it provided for residents to access cataract surgery at a reduced cost. This intervention is life-changing for many individuals suffering from cataracts, which can cause significant vision impairment. Furthermore, the organizers recognized that some residents might face financial constraints. To ensure inclusivity, the camp offered free cataract surgery to those who lacked the means to pay. This commitment to accessibility ensured that everyone in the community could benefit from this vital medical service. The camp concluded successfully at 1:00 PM, having served a considerable number of residents from Udhaya Colony.
